Choose your Caterers carefully. They are one of the most important aspects of your day and the one thing your Guests always remember about your wedding.
There is nothing worse than hearing comments such as:
1) The food was dry, overcooked and unappetising.
2) There wasn’t enough of it, I am still starving.
3) Didn’t like anything on the Menu.
4) They had nothing for me – I’m a Vegetarian
A good Chef will display a genuine enthusiasm for food (I don’t mean by his size!) and a sound knowledge of flavours, texture and colour.
Your Chef should show artistic flair in displaying his cuisine, particularly for laying out Buffets. There is nothing worse then just seeing row after row of trays of foods no matter how well it is cooked. With a little thought and preparation Buffets can look fantastic and a delight to enjoy.
A good Chef will show flexibility in his Menus and should be able to plan a carte du jour to suit your individual taste.
Start with deciding on what type of atmosphere to want to create. Is it going to be formal or informal. This will determine the type of Menus you choose.
The time of your Wedding Ceremony will also determine whether you need to feed your Guests with one main meal or a main meal and light buffet for the evening. You do not want your Guests to feel hungry at any time of the day or evening.
If you do choose a Buffet, B.B.Q. or Hog Roast always make sure there is a good variety of food to choose from so you can be assured that there is something for everyone.
You can then meet with your Chef to discuss your ideas for the day. With his expertise he will be able to create the right cuisine to compliment the type of style you have chosen.
It is also advisable to ask to see testimonials from previous clients, they can give you a clear picture of what to expect from your Chef.
Make sure you know what your Chef and his staff will be wearing on the day. It is very important that the people you hire are suitably dressed for the occasion. When choosing Silver Service make sure the staff are fully trained for this type of service.
When you receive a Quotation, make sure you know exactly what your Caterers are providing. Does the price include Table Cloths, Napkins, Cutlery, China, hire of equipment etc? Does the price include sufficient staff to cater for your event? Does the price include VAT or is this extra?
Make sure there are no additional charges you are not aware.
Don’t be tempted to take the cheapest option as bad Caterers can ruin your day.
